Interview Question and Answer - The End of the World

Recently a client has passed this question through to us:

What do you think will bring about the end of the world?

Good question for a whole host of reasons:

1. It is a very good way of finding out strongly held religious or personal beliefs - eg you are person with strongly held environmental beliefs who thinks the human race is going to destroy the planet.

2. Good to see if you can think quickly on your feet.

3. Can weed out anyone overtly pessimistic who will be able to give a lot of detail to it rather than thinking positively.

4. Whether in fact you think the world is going to end or continue quite happily for many years to come.

It is a very Human Resources like question!

Probably the best line of approach would be to avoid the question altogether and perhaps come up with a response that you see no reason why the end of the world should happen as after all it has been here for many billions of years already...

Is it possible to work as a Paralegal when you are a Qualified Solicitor

  This question comes up all the time and is quite a common query that we imagine the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) are getting better at answering due to the sheer number of people asking the question. What questions are asked in an Investors in People Assessment?

Recently Ten Percent Legal Recruitment was assessed for the investor in people accreditation. We worked very hard on this and spent some time as a company ensuring that all our procedures and policies were in place and that our staff were aware of the various requirements of the Investor in People process. We wondered how the assessment would go and also what the questions were likely to be during the interviews. The assessor was very friendly and explained from the outset what she was wanting to do and we were already aware that we would have thirty minute interviews with the directors and managers and twenty minute interviews with the staff.
