Writing a Killer CV - Top 10 Tips

Writing a legal CV is fairly easy providing you remember the following: 1. Put your name at the top of the page. (about 1% of all CVs omit this rather important information. 2. Include your date of birth if you feel it is an asset to you. 3. Include a profile underneath your personal and contact details. In this profile put your jobtitle (tailored to the post you are going for), the number of years experience you have, where you are looking for work, how much money you want and when you can start. Request for a CV review

"I am an experienced Paralegal looking for a TC in the North East i have sent out over 300 applications with many rejections and many wont even reply!! I cannot move away from the North East and Yorkshire for personal family reasons and i am considering leaving the proffession all together if i dont get a TC soon. I attach my CV for your perusal and any comments, alterations etc would be appreciated enormously" Response Interesting conundrum. It goes back to my comments below about solicitors requiring respect and status for all their hard graft, and why should they have to produce a long winded CV to explain who and what they are? Unfortunately, this often counts against them, unless the firm they are applying to knows them. There have been cases where we have sent such CVs through and had nothing from firms, followed by a full CV after much cajoling and suddenly interviews are being arranged. Anyone who finds themselves in this position when searching for legal jobs after being a solicitor for so many years...
